Maria Orfanidou is a lawyer at the Supreme Court and a member of the Athens Bar Association since 2004.

She graduated from Law School of Democritus University of Thrace in 2000. She holds a post-graduate degree (LL.M.) on company law from Heidelberg Law School (Karls – Ruprecht Universität Heidelberg – Germany) during which she carried out her LL.M. Thesis on “Limitations on the power of majority of shareholders in german and greek law” (Die Beschränkung der Mehrheitsmacht in der Aktiengesellschaft im deutschen und griechischen Recht). She speaks English and German.

She started her cooperation with Dimitris Avgitidis’ law office in 2002 and she is founding member of the homonymous law firm. She is specializing in company law, competition law, capital markets law, insolvency law and banking law.

She has contributed to collective works in the field of Capital Market Law and Commercial Law and she has published relevant articles in legal magazines.

She is a member of the Law Making Committee for the amendment of Bankruptcy Law (July 2015 until today).

She is a member of the Association of Greek Commercialists.
