George Babetas is a Senior Counsel at “D.K. AVGITIDIS & Associates” Law firm and Assistant Professor of Commercial Law at Democritus University of Thrace Law School. He teaches, copyright law, industrial property law, unfair competition law, competition restriction law, consumer protection law and company law at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Since 2018 he has been teaching in the postgraduate program of the University of Macedonia and the Democritus University of Thrace “Law and Informatics”.

 

He is a Lawyer admitted before the Supreme Court and a member of the Athens Bar Association since 1991. He is also a member of the Association of Greek Commercialists and a regular contributor to the magazine “Chronicles of Private Law”.

 

He is the author of the books: “The commercial agency contract in the law against restrictions of free competition”, “Economic Dependence and Abuse”, monographs on the “Dissolution of personal company”, the “Compulsory contract in copyright law” and a large number of articles and studies, mainly in commercial contract law, competition law, copyright and company law. He has participated with presentations in conferences and workshops on copyright law, competition and company law.

 

He studied Law at the University of Athens (1984-1989) and received his Ph.D. from the University of Athens. The subject of his doctoral dissertation was the commercial agency contract in competition law, which he prepared with a scholarship of the “Foundation of State Scholarships”.

 

He speaks German and English.
